The Eyegaze Trace Suite is a
collection of programs that capture a subject’s gaze using
LC Technologies' Eyegaze System while presenting stimulus
to the subject. The gaze and the stimulus are linked so
they can be replayed and studied at a later time.
The Trace Suite
consist of four programs:
EGTraceDynamic, EGTraceMedia, EGTraceImage
and EGTraceText.
EGTraceDynamic
captures the subjects' gaze movements as they perfom any
type of function on the computer. The output presents the
gaze point superimposed over a video like sequence of the
computer screen activity (incorporating keyboard and mouse
activity) that the subjects' have performed. This type of
data is useful for evaluating user interaction with websites
and program interfaces.
EGTraceMedia
captures gaze information while playing a moving picture,
either a DVD or an MPEG clip. The output presents the gazepoint
of the subject superimposed over a replay of the media.
This type of data is useful for evaluating TV commercials,
movies, as well as evaluating viewers' gaze movements over
video images captured by the evaluator's camera.
EGTraceImage
captures gaze information while presenting a static image.
This has been used for evaluating print advertisements or
other static information presentations.
EGTraceText
presents text to the subject while capturing the gaze (fixations,
saccades) movement through the text. Any text can be used
and the program outputs have been used for reading evaluations,
studying learning diabilities, such as dyslexia, and measuring
gaze relationship to retention.
Note:The functionality of the
EGTraceText and EGTraceImage
programs are currently bundled in the Trace program that
ships with the Eyegaze Analysis System.
